ANMA and its team are studying the strategic issues involved in the development of this 7,000-student campus, which will enable it to increase its territorial influence around an evolving guide plan articulating soil & landscape<\/em>, mobility <\/em>and programming strategies<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Based on a diagnosis and collaborative work with the University, users and local stakeholders, the project was built around three key themes: a site dedicated to research and teaching, a metropolitan park, and a campus of solidarity at the heart of the Toulon Provence M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e metropolitan area’s climate strategy.<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>

Above all, the Grand Jardin M\u00e9diterran\u00e9en<\/em> must assert itself as a campus: a site whose university vocation is clear and reinforced by the structuring of a heart of campus<\/em> polarizing student life and major university functions.<\/p>\n

It can also become a park that is both protected and open to the city: a green lung embedded in the geography and the wider landscape – between the Toulon mountains and the Plan of la Garde.<\/p>\n

Located at the heart of the eastern pole of the metropolis, it is also a catalyst for the transformation of a largely built-up area, revealing the potential of a living environment that can be appropriated by academics and residents alike. Featuring a large pedestrian area and a network of pathways crossing a variety of landscaped sequences, the campus allows the functionalities of everyday university life to coexist with uses linked to outdoor spaces (walks, sports, etc.).<\/p>\n

Its boundaries have been clarified and its northern facade – currently a large parking lot – reconfigured as a larger urban and landscape element, thus distancing it from the road environment and opening up the site to multi-modality – TCSP, cycle path, pedestrian footbridge…<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>

On the scale of the Eygoutier watershed, it becomes a real piece of hydraulic engineering. The Planquette creek is restored to its rightful place and becomes the backbone of the campus and the wider area. A system of retention basins and the redevelopment of its bed make it an ecological corridor, helping to combat the risk of flooding and the formation of urban heat islands.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Ecocampus approach can be seen in the sobriety of the actions taken on the building stock: clarification of polarities through relocation and light renovation, pergolas and kiosks with multiple functions – promotion of uses linked to alternative mobility, provision of shade, development of outdoor work…<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>
