a committed partnership
with world schools
In Madagascar, in the village of Besely, 45 km east of the city of Majunga, ANMA is partnering with the NGO Écoles du Monde to design a secondary school facility.
This will allow the village students to continue their education in the heart of the village, starting secondary school classes, from 6th to 9th grade, after leaving the school also built by the NGO in 2014.
The 6th grade class opened in 2020 followed by the 7th grade class in 2021. The 8th and 9th grades will open in 2022 and 2023 respectively, followed by the construction of a new high school.
4 secondary school classes
The project consists of the realization of a secondary school comprised of 4 classes, a media library, a practical room as well as housing for the teachers, the director and the guard. The complex is equipped with a water recovery system: a high water tower, under construction, is a signal building for the indigenous populations.
ANMA proposes a rational elliptical plan, where the layout of the buildings allows for the framing of transversal views from the high plateaus in all directions of the great landscape. Imagined according to the figure of the wise man sitting under the tree gathering his students around him, this plan proposes a gathering space with a kiosk in its center. The space between each class provides a breathing space and allows nature to integrate itself into the heart of the site.
In order not to be dependent on the use of wood, a resource that is becoming scarce in the region, the buildings are topped with metal lattice girders and steel roofing. An under-roof matting system also allows for better ventilation of each programmatic entity.
